It's ParaPara season again!
Now is the time to keep an eye out for birds that are being caught in your local ParaPara, or "bird-catching" tree. ParaPara trees are native to New Zealand and according to some are becoming rare. These plants usually grow in coastal forests and are mostly found on off-shore islands.
A number of nurseries sell this plant and although the ParaPara plant in your local garden center will be small, and easy to prune off the dead flowers and sticky pods you must remember the ParaPara can grow to 6 meters, or more, tall. Definitely not the ideal garden plant!
