Trustees
The Trust Board is made up of people who have enthusiasm for New Zealand’s wildlife, education and for the community.
The Trustees consist not only of wildlife rehabilitators, but individuals with a variety of skills that bring a depth of experience to the Trust.

Brian Robertson
Brian is the Chairman of the ‘Wild Bird Care Charitable Trust’. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 26 years experience in civil construction and business. Brian is currently a General Manager with a New Zealand construction company

Julie Knott
Julie has worked in the Health Care Industry for the past 20 years. Julie has always had a love of animals and for some years worked as a volunteer at an animal sanctuary in Kent. It was a natural progression that Julie would enlist as a volunteer with Wild Bird Care after bringing in a feathered friend in need of care. Julie has been assisting at the Whitford Centre since 2007.

Sandra (Sami) Meyer
Sami has a background in Architecture and worked in the industry for 17 years before starting a giftware business making decorated cutlery which she still runs from home. Sami has always had a love for small creatures and has been a volunteer with Wild Bird Care since 2008. Sami has found it extremely rewarding being able to assist with the rehabilitation of wildlife.

Mandy Robertson
Mandy is a qualified Bookkeeper and has had the experience of running her own bookkeeping business. Mandy’s interest and love of New Zealand’s wildlife came to the fore in 2003 when she began taking in sick, injured and orphaned birds and wildlife that were in need of care. Although Mandy has no formal veterinary training she regularly attends seminars and courses held by Massey University and WReNZ.

Fiona Nicol
Fiona has been involved with the centre since 2007. Initially happy to do anything other than handle the birds, she has finally graduated to being able to handle and care for the birds, realising that they are more scared of her than she is of them! Fiona has come from Sales and Marketing roles within manufacturing companies and is now working for a not for profit organisation which teaches English to refugees and migrants.
